1) When should I change my oil and oil filter?
We recommend you change your oil every 3,000 miles. This number might vary from your owner's manual, but it's a good idea to change it more often than not. Oil is one of the most important parts of keeping your vehicle in good condition.
You can take your vehicle into our friendly Service Department and take advantage of our Platinum Service Plan which includes a 2-year warranty and 3-years service after you buy a new bike. We will be happy to change your oil and oil filter.
2) Why should I use motorcycle oil rather than automotive oil?
Unlike your automotive engine, motorcycle engines can turn more than 10,000 rpms regularly. The oil in motorcycle engines usually runs about 30° to 50° F hotter than oil in your automobile. This causes more oxidation. Motorcycle oil contains more anti-oxidation additives for this reason.
It also contains rust, corrosion, and acid inhibitors which are unique to motorcycle oil. This is ideal because motorcycles tend to sit unused for longer periods of time than automobiles do. Motorcycle oil contains more Viscosity Index Improvers to resist oil thinning in the transmission as the oil gets hotter. Motorcycle oil also prevents the wet clutch from any problems like slipping.
There really is a difference between motorcycle oil and automotive oil. There are a variety of different specialty motorcycle oils. Please come in to any of our locations if you have any more questions about the right oil for you and your motorcycle.
3) I need a certain part for my motorcycle. Is there anywhere I can order the part?
Yes, you can come in or call any of our Family PowerSports locations and order a part from the Parts Department. You can also order a part online, just CLICK HERE for parts.

4) How should I maintain my drive chain?
Clean all grime that is on the chain. You should then lubricate each o-ring or x-ring of the chain with a foaming chain lube. Lubricate each ring on the inside of the chain and wipe off the excess. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, please bring in your vehicle to our service department.

5) When should I purchase new tires? What should I look for?
Tires are critically important to a motorcyclist - how many motorcyclists have you heard of that have had a "blowout?" There's a darn reason why you haven't - it doesn't happen. So what should you do to protect yourself against getting a blowout?
Here's what to look for in your tires:
-Tread 1 mm or less (if you can see the top of Abe Lincoln's head if you stick a penny in the tire tread) then the tire really should be replaced.
-Tread 1-2mm deep usually means they have about an average of a season's worth on them (depends how you ride).
-Tread more than 2 mm, then you're okay for a while.
Here's a picture of a tire that has some tread left...notice you can not see the top of Abe's head.
